MONTGOMERY, TX  March 26th, 2017 –Deer Lake Lodge and Spa, a boutique wellness resort and holistic spa, will host a class with Mark “Merriwether” Vorderbruggen, an expert in wild edible plants,  on Sunday March 26th, 2017.

The class will be in conjunction with Deer Lake Lodge’s regular health and cleansing program. Guests will have the opportunity to explore Deer Lake Lodge’s 50-acre oasis and learn about Texas’ edible wild plants and the basics of foraging. During nights and weekends, Merriwether spends his time exploring the wild and by day, he is a chemist. His blog, Foraging Texas is dedicated to edible wild plants, where to find them in Texas and how they can be used. The class with Merriwether is as follows:


Guests will spend four hours exploring Deer Lake Lodge’s property with Merriwether as their guide. The class will teach guests how to identify edible and medicinal plants in the wild. He will also show the class how to identify which part of the plant can be safely eaten raw. Along the hike, Merriwether will explain how foraging nature’s wild can help heal the body, mind and soul.  The workshop will be limited to only 20 participants.
